Murry Shohat, executive director of the Embedded Linux Consortium writes . . .

Dear Members and friends of the ELC — Is embedded Linux losing the positioning war to FUD? Not according to 60+ registered delegates for our Technical Interests meeting on Monday, April 9 at ESC2001. Standards AND Conformance are developing substantial steam. If you've already responded, toss this message. If you haven't, do you need to be there? Check with me now to reserve no-cost space: [email protected]. Or, phone 707-576-0115 / 0111.

Are your concerns on our latest list of member-submitted “Interests?”

  • An embedded Linux Platform standard
  • Graphic Standards
  • Real-Time Definitions
  • Embedded Linux and the GPL
  • Documentation Standards
  • Boot loaders and BIOS code
  • Fund a “Technical Division” of the ELC
  • Model definition of minimum utilities for different classes of embedded systems
  • Configuration of GNU/Linux for alternative platforms
  • Best practices for testing open source embedded software
  • Strategies for outsourcing the development of standards
Come for the fireworks. Light a few of your own. Stay for the food at our Reception which follows immediately.

Best regards,

Murry
