Embedded Linux based set-top system adds home automation

Christchurch, NEW ZEALAND — (press release excerpt) — Kiwi-Classifieds Limited (KCL), 2Net Limited, and Cytech Technology Pte Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to integrate KCL's eKa Plug 2 Surf with 2Net's Control Web Server and Cytech's Comfort Home Automation control unit, to create an Internet-enabled Home Automation System. As a result, users will be able to Surf the net as well as control their home devices and security system, via the eKa Plug 2 Surf (see photo). After enabling the required security controls, users will also be able to access the eKa Plug 2 Surf remotely in order to control devices within their home while they are away on holiday.

KCL (www.kiwi-classifieds.com), a privately owned enterprixe, was the first Internet Appliance Solutions company in New Zealand. eKa, KCL's Internet Appliance Solutions company, creates Embedded Linux products through integrating KCL's products with other companies' products. 2net Limited (www.2net.co.uk), based in the UK, is a developer of software for the fast growing Eembedded Internet market. 2net products are used in a wide variety of applications providing control, monitoring, and diagnostic facilities using standard Internet protocols. Cytech Technology (www.cytech-technology.com), based in Singapore, manufactures a unique Comfort product that is installed in many homes and offices throughout the region, and used by many developers in prestigious condominiums and landed property projects throughout the world.
