Funambol aims open “push” email at carriers, enterprises

A dual-licensed client-server suite said to provide push email, and over-the-air (OTA) address book/calendar sychronization on commodity Java-capable phones has reached general availability. Funambol says version 3 of its eponymous suite “puts open source on a collision course with proprietary mobile email vendors” such as Blackberry-maker RIM. (more…)

Lithuanian WiFi stack vendor Wilibox has signed up North American VAR (value-added reseller) Deliberant to market and support its products in the U.S. and Canada. Mini Linux PC breaks $100 barrier

Taiwanese integrator E-Way Technology Systems is shipping a tiny, 200MHz x86-compatible mini PC for $99, in single quantities. The TU-40 is passively cooled, comes with 128MB of RAM, and can run lightweight versions of Linux, such as Puppy, the company says. (more…)

GPL upheld against D-Link in German court

Netfilter developer and GPL-Violations.org founder Harald Welte reportedly has prevailed against D-Link in a case heard by a district court in Germany. Welte apparently sought to recovery expenses incurred in pursuing D-Link, and to force D-Link to concede that using GPL-licensed software carries legal obligations, Hanover-based magazine publisher Heise reports.
