NEWS FLASH: ELC releases Embedded Linux Platform Spec V1.0

Responding to a clamoring for decisive action, the Embedded Linux Consortium (ELC) has completed, approved, and released the first Embedded Linux Platform Specification prior to year-end 2002, as projected earlier this year. From the ELC's website: “In a unanimous vote, our Board of Directors has placed the ELCPS — Embedded Linux Consortium Platform Specification — into the public domain. (more…)

Sharp Re-launches Developer Site

Sharp Electronics Corp. has re-launched their Zaurus PDA developer website, now known as “Zaurus DevNet.” It includes web-based forums, documentation, software development kit (SDK), and Zaurus ROM image downloads, and has its own SourceForge-based software development center, providing bug tracking, task management, mailing list hosting, source code control (CVS), and file storage and archival. SimPy simplifies complex models [developerWorks]

VoIP app turns Sharp Zaurus PDA into an Internet phone

IBM releases IP Security Validator for Linux

IBM has released IP Security Validator, which enables independent evaluation of VPN configurations and quick/autonomous reaction to problems. An offline mode even allows the offline evaluation of traffic that was captured into a file with other tools such as tcpdump or pcapture. This way, traffic collected from non-Linux network nodes can be evaluated on a Linux machine. (more…)
